## The short version

The two apps optimize for different priorities. Playnite gives you a highly customizable library manager; Ammonis gives you a focused fullscreen environment designed around a controller.

### Playnite favors flexibility

Choose Playnite when themes, extensions, and deep customization are the reason you enjoy setting up a launcher.

### Ammonis favors focus

Choose Ammonis for a ready-to-use fullscreen interface with built-in layout editing, background effects, and controller navigation.

### More than library management

Manage power, audio, per-game HDR, RTSS frame limits, and Lossless Scaling profiles alongside your library. Customize an in-game performance overlay from the same settings interface.

## Choose Ammonis for a console-style setup

Ammonis is a natural fit for a living-room PC, TV, or HTPC where you want to start playing with a controller. Use its built-in editors to arrange Home cards, choose background effects and transitions, and preview layouts with your own library.

## Choose Playnite for deeper customization

Playnite may be the better fit when you rely on a particular theme, extension, or metadata workflow. Ammonis focuses its customization on built-in editors for Home layouts, game profile settings, and performance overlay profiles.

## Questions, answered.

### Is Ammonis free?

Yes. Platform game libraries and up to 20 manually added games, programs, or tools are available for free. Premium adds online artwork search and unlimited manual additions.

### Does Ammonis require Playnite to work?

No. Ammonis is a standalone Windows app and does not depend on Playnite.

### Can I keep Playnite installed?

Yes. Installing Ammonis does not require removing Playnite, so you can keep both available.

### Do the integrated tools need other apps?

Home layout editing is built in. The in-game performance overlay uses RTSS, and profiles with MSI Afterburner data need Afterburner running. Lossless Scaling integration requires a separately purchased copy of Lossless Scaling on Steam.
