XBOX previews Mythic achievements for completed games
Mythic recognizes completion of a game's original achievements, with retroactive awards and no requirement to finish later DLC.

XBOX is testing Mythic achievements, a new form of recognition for completing a game’s original achievement list. The feature entered XBOX Insider preview on September 29, 2026.
What counts toward Mythic
The requirement has a fixed finish line: unlock every achievement included in the original game. Achievements introduced by later DLC or updates do not count toward that requirement, and new additions will not remove an earned Mythic award.
Eligible past completions are recognized retroactively, including XBOX 360 games. That makes an existing achievement history useful from the start, without asking players to repeat completed challenges.
A clearer view of what remains
The profile’s new Gaming tab brings together achievements, Gamerscore milestones and Mythic completions. Completed games receive a distinctive frame, and friends’ Gaming tabs show their records too.
Within each game’s achievement list, a progress bar tracks the path to Mythic. A filter focuses on unfinished original achievements, while later additions carry an add-on label.
Still in preview
The announcement covers Insider access, with no general release date given. Players outside the preview should not expect the feature to appear immediately.
