XBOX PC app redesign shows performance improvements in early hands-on
An early look at Garrison shows a refreshed interface, clearer library browsing and layouts for mouse, keyboard and controller.

XBOX’s PC app is getting a new interface, according to Windows Central’s October 9 hands-on. The early build, codenamed Garrison, includes layouts for mouse and keyboard as well as controller navigation.
A clearer library
The library makes it easier to distinguish downloadable games from cloud-only titles. Store and game pages also share one interface, reducing the need to move between separate listings.
The hands-on report notes faster loading of a library with more than 1,400 games.
Browsing and downloads
The desktop layout keeps navigation and friends in a left sidebar. Upcoming games appear in a grid, with hover cards offering a closer look at each title.
The download queue shows installation progress, transfer speed and pause controls together.
When can players try it?
Jez Corden expects an Insider preview in the coming weeks, potentially before year-end, but a firm release date has not been announced.
